I feel that the general layout and the very walls of the class themselves: the ambience if you will, are key to defining a learning space.
So while my methodology is greatly helped by the availability of internet-enabled computers for students and other technology, I think it is worth first considering the message the lab itself gives and how that contributes to building a positive space condusive to the 21st century learning experiences.
I would like my lab to communicate positive values promoting:
- Inclusion of gender, race and abilities;
- Motivation for the subject and self-learning;
- Positive values for good global citizenship;
- Good mental health, support venues and support groups.

Moving Forward
- With the event of Covid-19, I have changed my classroom layout to respect safe distance whilst maintaining a classroom setup that feels more collaborative than rigid. The success of the new set up with some PCs moved towards the centre of the room means that I will seek to maintain this layour in future.
- Recently, some students have brought to the lab positive messages from pop icons, and I decided to set asid space for such messages and encourage the practice.
- I feel my lab should display more material made by students, perhaps put up on a rotational basis.
- [processing ideas].
